In just a few years, Carlos Oscar has risen
to be one of the most sought-after performers. Known for his charming,
witty and energetic stage persona, he fully acts out his jokes by
telling stories and metamorphosing into various characters and voices.
He jokes most often about the humorous side of his family, society and
everyday mishaps. His comedy appeals to the mass audience so much so
that he frequently is referred to as the "Crossover Comic."
As a Puerto Rican born in New York City, but raised
in Los Angeles, Carlos now consider himself a proud "MexiRican."
His career began on a lark when he decided to follow a lifelong dream
by taking acting classes while attending UCLA. It was there he
realized that what he did best was making people laugh - and the
history of professional comedian Carlos Oscar began.
He tributes the late Freddie Prinze as being the
greatest comic influence in his life. "As a 11-year-old kid
watching 'Chico and the Man,' I looked up to him. He made me realize
that you could be both funny and clean and still make people
laugh."
Carlos Oscar ventured onto the radio circuit
with his own alternative talk show in Los Angels at "The Howard
Stern Station" 97.1 FM and stayed two years. Following his heart,
he decided to move on to devote more time to his stage-television-film
career. He became a regular at all the major clubs around the country.
His television credits now include NBC's "The Single Guy,"
Fox's "Living Single," TBS's "Comedy Cure," the
syndicated "Apollo Comedy Hour," performances on HBO and
Showtime, the late-night talk show "VIBE," the "Tonight
Show with Jay Leno," and has even
hosted Galavision's "Que Locos."
With an intuitive and uncanny ability to uncover the
humor beneath everyday issues that seem "oh-co-serious," Carlos
Oscar delivers "one-two jabs" that hit audience members
hard. They just roll with the punch lines!
